Graduates will:
Develop command over Urdu as a medium of thought and expression.
Engage in critical study of Urdu’s literary and cultural evolution.
Contribute to academic, literary, and national growth through Urdu.
Be prepared for further studies (BS Urdu) or careers in education, writing, and communication.
The program aims to develop students’ proficiency in Urdu language and literature while enabling them to contribute meaningfully to education, research, and culture.
Through classical and modern Urdu texts, students gain insight into historical, social, and cultural developments expressed in Urdu prose, poetry, and criticism.
Candidates holding an Intermediate certificate with at least 45% marks or A-Levels with equivalency certificate from IBCC Islamabad or an equivalent recognized qualification are eligible to apply.
In pursuit of our vision, the Department struggles to provide quality education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, so as to produce high-caliber graduates who will play leading roles in their chosen careers; in industry, the professions and academia. Our students will be selected on intellectual merit, regardless of gender, race and physical disabilities. We aim to cultivate a well-balanced portfolio of research of the highest quality with a wide range of interests.
